WHERE THE PASSION COME FROM BRO?
I spent 12 years immersed in the world of hatton garden, dedicating myself each day to pursuing the same goal while continually learning and growing within the jewellery environment. Every moment in this field added to my understanding and passion.
I may not have had a passion for jewellery when I first started—what really drove me was the determination I had developed from a young age to succeed in making money, as well as the discipline I cultivated playing professional basketball, training daily. That initial drive and commitment set me on my path.
Over the years, a specific and focused passion for excelling in the jewellery industry became apparent. I consistently strived to hit monthly and yearly targets, eventually taking on senior positions by the age of 22 or 23. Even before I resigned, I was dedicated to excelling beyond my job description. I would design rings during my breaks, meticulously work on window displays and product placement, and explored cheaper suppliers while fostering connections between my previous employers and manufacturers. These efforts helped establish long-lasting business relationships that continue to thrive today, even in my absence.
I had a deep aspiration to do the best I possibly could for the family I worked for, until one day I realised I could achieve the same success on my own and support my own family in the future. My boss had often shared stories of how he became a self-sufficient CEO, inspiring me to follow a similar path.
COMMITMENT
Seven years later, that same passion and aspiration remain with me. I have now proven to myself that I genuinely love creating jewellery for people, even when I’m not being paid. The pure joy and happiness I can bring through my work, and witnessing the delight it brings to others, is something I would choose to experience a thousand times over.
As I prepare to step into my eighth year in business this November, I have new aspirations and ideas. I aim not only to build my brand but also to help young people on their journey through life in the best way I know how. Sometimes, I wonder if this idea conflicts with certain goals I have at House Of Ice. However, after much contemplation—sometimes involuntary—I've thoroughly weighed the pros and cons, and this desire is becoming a burning passion once again. I can’t ignore my urge to help others and contribute to creating a healthier, more inclusive jewellery environment for the future.
HOW ITS POSSIBLE TO STAND OUT IN A SATURATED MARKET ?
When more competition enters the market, it doesn’t necessarily mean it will be harder to stand out. Many products aren't truly original; numerous brands might sell similar items. The key lies in your creative spin on marketing, your own originality, uniqueness, and the service you provide. You can offer someone the tools they need, but knowing how to use them effectively is a different story. No two people are identical, and the same applies to brands. Each brand must publicly showcase various facets of the company to establish its unique identity.
To conclude, working for someone else was a pivotal moment in my life that greatly shaped my experience, knowledge, and wisdom. Over the years, I've gained valuable insights and developed a nuanced understanding of different sales strategies by observing countless colleagues and mentors. It's often said that it takes 10,000 hours to become a professional, and I feel I've nearly reached that milestone. I can’t wait.
Good Luck To All Of You Aspiring Jewellers
